Terence Gallagher, President, New York

As a leader and innovator in destination marketing, Terry Gallagher begins by finding the ethos of the destination – the special personality that makes it unique. Whether it’s the Yankee independence of New Hampshire or the sybaritic pleasures of a Caribbean Island, Terry has created award-winning campaigns that capture the imagination. A gifted writer and storyteller, he has helped guide the revitalization of Providence, Rhode Island as a leading culinary and cultural destination–the positioning of Sonoma County as a premier wine and vacation region—the promotion of Florida’s Paradise Coast as the ultimate beach escape—to name just a few.

Terry understands each destination in its many facets. With more than 30 years in the travel industry, he has implemented strategic communications programs for hotels, restaurants, cruise lines and airlines. In recognition of his outstanding achievements in the hospitality industry, in 2018 Terry brought home the Winthrop W. Grice Award from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association, the organization’s highest honor.

His highly successful media strategy is guided by his training and experience in Journalism.  The consummate professional, Terry is adept at finding the story and seeing it from the journalist’s point of view. This perspective has resulted in extensive media coverage for his clients in national print, broadcast and digital media.

When his clients face that unexpected crisis—a hurricane that wreaks havoc, a forest fire that chars the landscape, Zika virus, or an event that can tarnish a reputation – Terry is there with his clients to provide counsel and assistance to help handle the situation.  Once the immediate crisis is resolved, Terry and his team look ahead to help steer the recovery and restore the brand’s reputation in the marketplace.

As President of the New York office, Terry has helped guide the growth and success of The Lou Hammond Group since joining the firm in 1992.  He takes particular pride in training and mentoring staff to help retain the best and the brightest in the business.

When he is not ‘on the road’ or at his desk, he enjoys time with his family in New Jersey, including his grown son and two daughters. An avid reader, Terry can be described as a ‘media consumer’ of local, regional and national newspapers and publications covering a broad range of topics and interests.
